Transform Research Into Action

offered online or in-person

The MPH in Epidemiology program provides theoretical and practical training applicable to a variety of public health issues. This collection of investigative methods has become an integral part of public health, as epidemiological findings permeate all fields of human health. Our Epidemiology program is designed for individuals interested in a career studying the relationship of risk factors to a variety of disease outcomes (e.g., the effect of nutrients, inactivity, stress, high blood pressure, environmental exposure, obesity, or immunologic characteristics on heart disease, cancer, osteoporosis, longevity, infectious diseases, reproductive outcome, etc.).

The efficacy and confirmed success of epidemiology promise an exciting future for those who meet the challenges of this advancing science.

STEM-Eligibility

Loma Linda University School of Public Health's programs have been designated as STEM-eligible by the U.S. Department of Homeland Security. This allows international students on an F-1 visa to apply for a 24-month extension of their Optional Practical Training (OPT) employment authorization after graduating if they earn an MPH in Epidemiology, work for an employer meeting STEM OPT requirements, and timely file form I-765. The STEM OPT extension provides an excellent opportunity for international graduates to gain additional work experience in their field of study within the United States.

The depth of knowledge and passion around plant-based nutrition and its focus on lifestyle-related chronic disease prevention sets it apart from other MPH programs. From my first quarter to my last, the program was transformative and opened the door to many new career possibilities.
